The Tesla Cybertruck is an upcoming battery-electric full-size
pickup truck developed by Tesla, Inc. First announced in November 2019, three
models are expected to be offered, with an EPA range estimate of 250–500 miles
(400–800 km). and an estimated 0 to 60 mph time of 2.9–6.5 seconds, depending
on model.
The base price for
the rear-wheel drive (RWD) model of the vehicle was announced at US$39,900,
with all-wheel drive (AWD) models starting at US$49,900. Production of the
dual-motor AWD and tri-motor AWD Cybertrucks was initially slated to begin in
late 2021, with a late 2022 release date for the RWD model, but production
dates have been pushed back multiple times. As of July 2022, the start of
limited production was estimated to begin in mid-2023. As of January 2023, mass
production was estimated to begin in 2024. However, in February 2023, Elon Musk
stated that the Cybertruck would be available later in 2023 with deliveries
planned to begin by the end of Q3 2023.
Specfications:
The powertrain for
the dual-motor AWD version is similar to the 2019 and newer “Raven”
Tesla Model S and Model X, all of which have the rear motor and Model 3
permanent magnet motor on top. The second version has a single motor rear.
There are wheel drive, or tri-motors with one front and two rear motors.
Like other Tesla
models, the Cybertruck can be pre-ordered with a full self-driving software
upgrade, which will add an additional US$10,000 to the price of the
configuration.
